In December 2020, as reported this morning by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), 11,006 overnight stays were estimated, a lower figure of 78.8% compared to December 2019.

Regarding Arrivals at regional tourist accommodation establishments, these were estimated at 5,009, decreasing 82.0% in twelve months.

The occupancy rate in rooms was estimated at 12.6%, down 17.19 percentage points (pp.) In twelve months.

The average income per available room (RevPAR) in the different classes of tourist accommodation establishments in the region was $5,730 during the month of December 2020, a lower figure of 58.8% in twelve months. On the other hand, the average rate per room sold (ADR) was $45,589, a rate that decreased 2.5% in year-on-year comparison.

It should be noted that the data collected in December 2020 show an atypical situation, which is explained by the large number of establishments closed or without movement.

According to the estimates of the coefficients of variation, the INE has considered that the data at the national level have sufficient quality for their dissemination and their use by the different users of these statistics. For the data provided at the regional level, it is suggested to be cautious in their analysis, because in the variables of overnight stays and occupancy rates, there are regions that exceed the recommended threshold of 30% in the coefficient of variation.
